The french group Les Negresses Vertes was formed in the late 80's in Paris.
Their sound was a mix of alternative, gypsy, raï and french popular music.
The first two albums, "Mlah" and "Famille Nombreuse", are really amazing and contain such cult classics as "Face à la Mer", "Il", "La Valse" or "Zobi la Mouche".
Although the band has lost a lot with the death, in 1993, of its original singer and lyricist Noël Rota (a.k.a. Helno) due to a heroin overdose, I've also decided to post their 1996 live album "Green Bus".
Hope you like it!
