David S. Ware String Ensemble - Threads (2003)

I have a deep respect and admiration for the saxophonist David S. Ware and his work.
Ware began playing in a trio of his own called Apogee.
In the 70's he played with Cecil Taylor, Andrew Cyrille and Raphe Malik. He drove a N.Y. taxi for some years while attempting to "reach the light" with his band.
It was for me a privilege to see him in 2003, his only time in Portugal, at the Jazz ao Centro festival - Coimbra.

New York's collective jazz press crowned Ware the "King of Free Jazz" on the basis of his energetic quartet albums from the mid-'90s. Ware's band (with Matthew Shipp on piano, William Parker on bass, and, variously, Susie lbarra, Marc Edwards, or Whit Dickey on drums) became the decade's avant-garde supergroup by consensus, and Ware is indeed a splendid artist. 1. Splendid Ware recording--my favorite of his so far.

    Thanks for the exposure.

  2. Looks like I'm too late. Any chance that these could get reposted, or perhaps they've been put somewhere else? Thanks!

  3. Hi klf!
Sorry for that but I've received complaints from AUM Fidelity and I've decided to delete all the David S. Ware links.
