Here are my two favourite records by Breathless, a band wich was formed around 1982 by Dominic Appleton - probablly best known for his appearances in 4AD's This Mortal Coil - Gary Mundy and Ari Neufeld. Appleton and Mundy did also collaborate on Anne Clark's 1st record.
I think it may appeal to fans of The Chameleons and The Cure who like a taste of the 4AD sound in the mixture.
Obscure even to most fans of dark, moodily romantic U.K. post-punk rock, Breathless deserves kudos both for its persistence and for its enveloping music. (Taken from AMG)

Thanks for posting. Track 2 "Over and Over" is a wonderful track.
ReplyDeleteVery impressive selections on your blog!!!!
What a treat seeing all this great alternative rock from the 80's. It truly was a great era for the lauch of all kinds of great European bands that brought a spectacular mix of punk, ambient, new wave am moody music.
ReplyDeleteI see you seem to be interested in alternative jazz. Try the new Jon Hassell CD on the ECM label. It is a spectacular example of ambient jazz. Very quiet with subtl beats drifting in the distant backgroud. A fantastic piece of music.
All the best and thanks for the music.

Hi dear anonymous!
ReplyDeleteThank you both for your comments; they are much appreciated.
GLW: I'll take your advice and listen to Hassell's new record as soon as possible.
Cheers!
